"White Paper Blu-ray Disc™ Read-Only Format (Ultra HD Blu-ray™)
2.2.3.3.6 HDR-to-SDR conversion technologies
post178636985.html#p178636985. Dolby Vision :"B.7. Dolby Vision (“DV”) Profile Definition
B.7.1. Overview
The DV Media Profile defines audio‐visual content interoperability points for High Dynamic Range devices utilizing Dolby Vision technology.
The configuration of Dolby Vision in this Profile is comprised of a Base Layer video track (“BL”) with the addition of an Enhancement Layer video track (“DV‐EL”).
The BL is conformant with another Media Profile defined in this specification and can be decoded by devices supporting that Media Profile.
The EL consists of additional [H264] or [H265] conformant video and/or Dolby Vision HDR metadata.
For example, when an EL is decoded and combined with a decoded BL, this results in an enhanced HDR video output (i.e. conforming to Rec 2020 & SMPTE 2084).
B.7.3.1. Base Layer (“BL”)

http://dci-forum.com/index.php?PHPSESSI ... opic=455.0.
"The BBC provided its HDR system, and teamed up with NHK for metadata free HDR broadcasts, in what is now called BBC NHK Hybrid Log-Gamma HDR. With a split in the EOTF (Electro Optical Transfer Function) curve, regular gamma correction for 0 to the current 100 nits (Candela per meter squared), and a logarithmic function for the expanded dynamic range. Perceptively 100 nits is half way towards 10000 nits, so the curve needs to cover twice the perceived light output, but in the electric signal 10000 is still 100 times 100. Hence the need for a logarithmic curve to ramp up quickly. Regular TVs will only use the bottom range, following the regular gamma curve, HDR sets will also use the top part of the range, following the log function in the Hybrid Log-Gamma system."http://dci-forum.com/index.php?action=recent;start=10"The log-gamma HDR signal may be mixed, re-sized, compressed, and generally “produced”, using conventional tools and equipment. The only specifically high dynamic range equipment needed is cameras and displays for quality monitoring (signal monitoring may continue to use SDR displays). No complex mastering metadata is required. Conventional end user distribution techniques may be used (although a 10 bit signal is required). No layered or multichannel codecs are required. Only a single signal is required for both SDR and HDR displays and expensive multiple “grades” (for both HDR and SDR) are not necessary."http://www.theiet.org/communities/multi ... m?type=pdfDémo de télédiffusion en HDR BBC/NHK avec un TV 8K de Sharp :
