En direct de l'IFA : les nouveautes SENNHEISER

The HD 800 is 'European Headphone 2009-2010'
Premium headphones from Sennheiser win EISA Award

Wedemark, 17 August 2009 – The new premium headphones HD 800 from Sennheiser have won the coveted EISA Award presented by the European Imaging and Sound Association. In the category 'European Audio Awards', the HD 800 impressed the international jury with its innovative transducer principle. From now on, it can officially bear the title of 'European Headphone 2009-2010'.

"Here is a new top-of-the-range model from one of the world’s most renowned headphone manufacturers. The challenge was to create a large diaphragm, essential for powerful bass reproduction, while avoiding unwanted resonances which result in distortion. The solution? Instead of the usual circular shape, the diaphragm is designed as a ring, which provides a large surface area, yet minimises distortions. The sound is just true to the original, at every frequency from the lowest bass to the highest treble," is how the EISA jury, which is made up of representatives from 50 European special interest magazines, justified its verdict. The coveted EISA Awards are presented every year for products from the fields of photography, video, audio & home theatre, in-car electronics and mobile devices.

Sound in perfection
"We are extremely delighted to have won the European Imaging and Sound Association award once again," said Maurice Quarré, Product Manager Consumer Electronics at Sennheiser. "With the HD 800, we have come closer than any other manufacturer to reproducing sound in such a natural and lifelike way as possible." Brilliant trebles, precise basses and a particularly spatial sound image – these are the qualities that characterise the HD 800. The frequency response ranges from 6 to 51,000 Hertz.

The excellent sound properties of the headphones are supported by selected materials and a top-quality finish – features that were also pointed out by the EISA jury.

A trio with state-of-the-art technology: three new wireless headphones from Sennheiser

Wedemark, 2 September 2009 – Conquering the Empire as a Jedi knight without waking the neighbours? Conducting a symphony orchestra in fortissimo with the kids asleep in their beds? No longer a problem with the new wireless headphones from Sennheiser. No matter whether connected to a television set or a hi-fi system – the RS 160, RS 170 and RS 180 guarantee an excellent sound experience. Dynamic sound transducers with powerful neodymium magnets ensure a clear, high-resolution audio playback whilst the Kleer transmission technology promises uncompressed transmission of the audio data. The three new headphones will be shown for the first time at the IFA in Berlin.

“The RS 160, RS 170 and RS 180 headphones represent a perfectly free, wireless sound experience,“ says Maurice Quarré, Head of Product Management Consumer Electronics at Sennheiser. “All three models offer highly impressive audio quality – with no cables to get in the way. They all use Kleer transmission technology, which operates without compression and therefore without any audio loss.“ Not only can you move around while watching television but you can also enjoy cable-free music at a radius of up to 100 metres (RS 160 up to 20 metres, RS 170 up to 80 metres and RS 180 up to 100 metres, line of sight.

Cinema-quality performance
The new RS models combine cinema-quality sound with movie star looks. “Clear lines and sophisticated, reflective surfaces in black, silver and anthracite make them genuinely desirable design objects,” continued Maurice Quarré. The headphones, with their soft padded ear cups and adjustable headbands, are specifically designed for hours of television or music enjoyment and are still comfortable to wear when your movie night eventually draws to a close.

Cinema-quality sound in the living room
Tried and tested Sennheiser technology ensures transparent and balanced sound with the new wireless headphones. Dynamic transducers with powerful neodymium magnets and a distortion of only 0.5 percent reproduce even the subtlest musical nuances. The frequency response reaches from 18 to 21.000 Hertz. With a sound pressure level of 110 decibels the three headphones have outstanding dynamics.

The RS 160 is the entry-level model: the closed headphones impress with their detailed sound and powerful bass reproduction. The volume can be controlled directly on the headphones. The RS 170 is also a closed model and delivers dynamic bass boost and switchable surround sound. The top-of-the-range RS 180 model is targeted at sound purists; the open design ensures a particularly natural listening experience which can be set to individual preferences. The speech intelligibility can be improved through dynamic compression (Automatic Level Control) and the balance can also be individually adjusted.

Plug and Play
It‘s just so easy to connect the wireless headphones – whether to a television set, stereo system or DVD-Player. If the transmitter is connected to an audio or video device, it automatically transmits the audio data to the headphones: switch them on, put them on and sit back and enjoy the results. The 2-gigahertz digital radio transmission ensures smooth transmission with a high signal-to-noise ratio of 85 dBA. The Kleer technology even allows the listening pleasure to be shared as up to four headphones can receive radio signals via one transmitter.

The transmitter of the RS 160 has a diameter of only 9.7 centimetres. When connected to an MP3 player or mobile phone it fits easily into a backpack, which means that the headphones can be used for wireless music enjoyment whether you are at home or out and about. The RS 170 and RS 180 transmitters are a little larger as these also serve as a charging cradle.

All three models will be available worldwide from October.

"Low resonance materials contribute to this clear reproduction and include high-quality plastic ear cups, a metal-plastic sandwich for the headband and a special high-precision gauze made of stainless steel which holds the transducers." In the end, it is the interaction between all of the details that makes up the sound properties of high-end headphones. Audio specialist Sennheiser presented the HD 800 for the first time at the CES in Las Vegas at the beginning of the year.

Salut Safe,

180 series: Elegant purism of design with maxi sound

ELAC introduces a new, contemporary product line under the slogan "Reduced to the Max".
"Less is more" applies in the case of the new 180 series, both to the exterior and the interior
of the speaker. The result is a modern design idiom combined with all technical refinements
that you could desire.
For natural, high-quality sound, the developers at ELAC have gone for technical features
such as ELAC's highly praised JET tweeters, ELAC's tried-and-tested aluminium sandwich
technology, cabinets with internal stiffeners and particularly harmonious amplifiercompatibility.
ELAC offers a choice of two optional finishes using replaceable covers. In addition to the
familiar "stretched fabric covers", the matt-lacquered models are fitted with stylish grilles.
The acoustic tuning of the new speakers is "international" – lively and dynamic yet detailed
and powerful, with a taut, crisp and sonorous bass.
Two floor standers "FS 189" and "FS 187", a BS 184 book shelf speaker and a CC 181
center speaker make their respective debuts. Available from August 2009 on in black ash
finish with high gloss baffle, cherry finish with baffle in black rubber paint and in black &
white matt lacquer from October 2009.

SUB 2080 D mit EISA-Logo.jpg

ELAC SUB 2080D wins the coveted EISA- Award

The EISA, the “European Imaging and Sound Association”, selected the ELAC SUB
2080D to “Europes´ Subwoofer 2008-2009” and awards it with the coveted “European
Award”.
The ceremonial bestowal takes place on the 04th of September in the ADLON Hotel in
Berlin.
Chief Editors of 53 special interest magazines from more than 20 European countries
annually award the “European Awards” to products of the audio-, home cinema-, video-,
and multimedia- industry.
“The sum of subjective judgements of a lot of high qualified experts results in an ideal
objective decision.” Behind this consideration stands the idea that products,
technologies and achievements, which have been judged of several testing offices of
speciality media, are an ideal decision support for the high maintenance consumer.
The oldest and renowned association in Europe, which annually awards the “European
Awards” is the EISA, the “European Imaging and Sound Association”. They judged:
„Fully-grown subwoofer powerhouse with enough juice for even the most ambitious
home theatre enthusiast, Elac’s Sub 2080 D still manages to please the eye with its
stylish looks and relatively small footprint. Twin 250mm drivers are employed vertically,
featuring very stiff aluminium sandwich cones, and arranged in Elac’s unique ‘pushpush/
pull-pull’ configuration. This allows for optimal sound dispersion from a compact
enclosure. Thanks to Elac’s ‘Subwoofer Precision’ technology, which electronically
minimises distortions, the 2080 D makes full use of its 500W power amplifier across an
18 to 180Hz frequency range, providing a bone-shaking home theatre experience with
supreme bass control, no matter how demanding the movie.

For ELAC this commendation with the EISAAward
is a great honour and an inducement
for the future!
