"Harman Kardon introduce new AVR 5550 and AVR 4550 A/V receivers. 14th January 2003
These receivers incorporate a number of significant all-new technologies to deliver greater performance and flexibility than ever before, including advanced bass management capabilities for DVD-Audio and SACD sources, the innovative A-BUS® multiroom connectivity system and many additional refinements.
Redefining 7.1-Channel Audio/Video Receiver Performance. Seven high-current, ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier channels, delivering 70 watts (AVR 5550) or 50 watts (AVR 4550) of equal power output into all seven main channels.
Leading-Edge Digital Audio Technologies. Both AVR's use the Crystal® CS 49300 DSP processor and 24 bit/192 kHz DACs for state-of-the-art audio playback with the highest possible resolution, dynamic range and fidelity.
Both AVR's incorporate two proprietary audio technologies developed by Harman International, VMAx® Virtual Theater audio processing and Logic 7®/7.1 and 5.1. Now upgraded to include 96kHz decoding capability, Logic 7 delivers improved, derived multichannel reproduction from both matrix-encoded and two-channel stereo recordings with derived stereo for the back surround channels. Both receivers include sophisticated MP3-decoding capability.
Advanced Bass-Management Capabilities. The receivers' Triple Crossover system is among the most advanced available. It gives the listener the ability to select three different bass crossover frequencies, for the front, center and surround speakers, to perfectly tailor the audio output fed to each set of speakers.
Unmatched Control and Connectivity. AVR 5550 and AVR 4550 provide an exceptionally comprehensive array of digital and analog audio and video connections, including wide-bandwidth component video switching and multiple S-video and composite video inputs and outputs and preamp output jacks for all channels. Also an RS-232 port to enable control by external keypad or computer systems, and many other advanced features.
Sophisticated Multizone/Multiroom Technology. For multiroom versatility, the receivers' amplifier sections are assignable Each of the new Harman Kardon receivers also incorporates the A-BUS Ready® system for easy multiroom connectivity without the need for additional external amplifiers."
