HDMI 1.2 : Enfin dévoilé

Le standard d'entrée/sortie audio/vidéo HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) vient de se renouveler dans une nouvelle version 1.2, dont les spécifications viennent d'être fournies officiellement.

L'HDMI, la nouvelle « prise péritel » de la télévision haute définition, va permettre le transfert de flux audio/vidéo en haute qualité sans aucune compression, et entièrement en numérique. La qualité d'image et du son est ainsi reproduite sans perte, avec en prime une protection HDCP des flux, le DRM universel pour les flux HDTV.

L'HDMI 1.2 comporte donc quelques nouveautés notables, surtout pour les possesseurs de PC. Il supportera d'abord le transfert d'un nouveau format audio, le DSD (Direct Stream Digital) qui est le format utilisé par les Super Audio CD (SA-CD) de Philips et Sony. Le DSD permet une qualité de son accrue, dotée d'un taux d'échantillonnage théorique de 2.8224 MHz contre 44.1 KHz sur les CD Audio normaux, avec un rapport signal bruit de 120 dB. Le format est aujourd'hui peu utilisé, mais il sera transmis, en numérique et sans compression, par l'HDMI 1.2.

Pour les PC cette fois, l'HDMI 1.2 va accroître la disponibilité du connecteur Type A (19 broches), qui supporte un seul canal TMDS. Les connecteurs Type B (24 broches) supportent quant à eux deux canaux TMDS, tout comme un connecteur DVI, et supportent alors des résolutions supérieures au 1080i (1920x1080).

L'HDMI 1.2 supportera aussi la gestion des couleurs classiques du PC, le RGB, en plus du YcbCr. Le nouveau standard apporte aussi une meilleure compatibilité avec les sources dont la tension est basse, comme celle des cartes graphiques PCI-Express par exemple.

HDMI LICENSING, LLC ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF HDMI 1.2a SPECIFICATION INCLUDING UPDATED COMPLIANCE TEST SPECIFICATION

SUNNYVALE, Calif., December 27, 2005 - HDMI Licensing LLC, the agent responsible for licensing the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (™) (HDMI (™)) specification, today announced the availability of the latest revision of the HDMI specification, version 1.2a.

With the release of HDMI 1.2a, CEC features and command sets and CEC compliance tests are now fully specified. In addition, the Founders have created version 1.2a of the HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS), which includes a CEC Supplement. HDMI CTS 1.2a has been updated for technical consistency with HDMI Specification 1.2a as well as to the recently released HDMI Specification 1.2.

Significantly, CTS 1.2a contains additional cable and connector testing and Authorized Testing Center (ATC) submission requirements. Specifically, under CTS 1.2a, the Adopter shall submit for testing to the ATC any new HDMI cable whose length exceeds previously tested cables.

Additionally, HDMI Licensing, LLC will maintain a list of approved connectors. For a device to pass CTS 1.2a testing at an ATC, all connectors on such device must appear on the approved connector list. To add a connector to this list, the vendor must submit to the ATC or HDMI Licensing, LLC full and passing testing results.

Par contre j'espere que la prise change physiquement, parcque les 1er prises HDMI c'est la galere qd il n'y a pas les 2 petites vis pour maintenir la prise!!

Je crois pas me tromper en disant que la connectique ne change pas, ce n'est qu'une évolution, attendue depuis pas mal de temps, surtout pour les SACD.

Et comment pour les mises à jour ? Faut il retourner le matériel ?
