Specs futur Pioneer VSX 59TXi cousin US du AX10i

Message » 23 Sep 2003 11:29

Highlights Include Dolby Pro Logic IIx(TM) and Advanced Room Tuning

INDIANAPOLIS, CEDIA BOOTH #306, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Pioneer
Electronics (USA) Inc. today introduced the VSX-59TXi Pioneer Elite digital
audio/video receiver offering audio enthusiasts the latest in digital
processing, room tuning and high-resolution multi-channel audio reproduction.
The VSX-59TXi is the third receiver from Pioneer that allows advanced high-resolution multi-channel digital interface (i.LINK) for DVD-Audio and SACD connectivity and one of the first receivers to incorporate Dolby Pro Logic IIx.

"A receiver is the backbone of any great home theater system. Knowing this to be true, Pioneer designs our receivers to provide the best audio and video reproduction possible, enhancing the best of what consumer's DVD players and televisions have to offer," said Russ Johnston, senior vice president of marketing for home entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
The Pioneer VSX-59TXi Elite receiver offers equal amplifier power to all
channels, eliminating the possibility of one channel dominating a particular
sound field. All amplifiers are of discrete MOSFET configuration unique to
Pioneer for low distortion, and are capable of handling any high quality audio formats. This receiver also offers THX-Ultra2(TM), Dolby Digital EX(TM), DTS-ES(TM), Dolby Pro Logic II(TM) and NEO-6(TM) surround processing. All surround processing has been improved from 48 kHz to 96 kHz for much greater sound resolution. (DTS-ES discrete and Dolby Digital EX are processed at 48kHz).
Also available on the VSX-59TXi is i.LINK, which Pioneer first introduced
on the VSX-49TXi. The VSX-59TXi features a multi-channel USB audio input for connection to a PC.

Auto Room Tuning Update
The VSX-59TXi receiver provides an updated advanced multi-channel acoustic calibration system (MCACC) for optimum accuracy in multi-channel sound reproduction. This feature was first adopted in the VSX-49TX, which was the world's first multi-channel acoustic calibration system available in an audio/video receiver. The calibration system works by measuring the acoustic characteristics of the listening area and adjusting for the ambient characteristics that can "color" the original source material. First the MCACC uses the microphone provided to check and test ambient noise levels, the microphone and speaker level. Once the initial set-up calibration is complete the system automatically confirms the size of the speakers that are hooked up to the receiver and distance to the listener, then performs a surround analysis. Finally, MCACC checks channel delay and channel level, before performing the acoustic calibration. During the acoustic calibration process, the speakers will emit a series of pink noise signals that are received by the microphone and sent to a nine-band digital equalizer for final calibration of up to seven channels. The VSX-59TXi also allows the user to manually equalize
the speakers as well.

Newly developed "Advanced MCACC" features include:

* Professional Acoustic Calibration setup takes into consideration the
reverberant qualities of the listening area, and uses this information
to adjust the frequency response more accurately for human ears,
distinguishing the difference between the direct sound from each
speaker and the reflected sound off of the walls.
-- > Auto Pro -- the receiver outputs test tones, and automatically
adjusts the frequency balance for each speaker in accordance
with the reverberation characteristics in the listening room.
-- > Manual Pro -- the receiver measures the room acoustics with
reverberation and displays this information on-screen. Once the
reverberation characteristic in each frequency band is easured,
the user can select which timing frequency to use for manual

* New to the MCACC is the ability to send data to a PC through the
RS232C port for a detailed and precise display of the measured
reverberation frequency response in the listening room.

* X-Curve is a popular measurement done in professional theaters and
dubbing suite designs. X-Curve compensates for psycho-acoustic
effects depending on the size of the listening room. Pioneer
developed a living room-sized version of X-Curve for home
entertainment tuning. Using MCACC, X-Curve compensation will generate
perfect flat frequency response, which not only calibrates the
physical tonal balance but also corrects the human brain's
interpretation of the sound effected by the size of the room. The
X-Curve can be implemented manually or automatically.

Surround Processing
The VSX-59TXi is among the first audio/video receivers to incorporate
Dolby Pro Logic IIx surround processing. Dolby Pro Logic IIx is an advanced matrix decoder that derives six and seven-channel surround (Left, Center, Right, Left Surround, Right Surround, Left Surround Back, and Right Surround Back) from any two-channel stereo program material. On encoded material such as movie soundtracks, the sound is more like Dolby Digital EX, while with two-channel encoded material such as music CDs, the effect is a wider and more encompassing sound field.

Along with a triple layer chassis, TAOC insulator, Pioneer's renowned 3-D space frame construction as well as Concentrated Direct Construction, the VSX-59TXi is nearly free from acoustic vibration which deteriorates the sound quality.

User Friendly Touch Screen Remote Control Interface
Pioneer redesigned its universal touch screen remote control. This newly developed remote is sleek and lightweight for single hand, easy operation. This new remote allows dealers to personalize each of the menu screens. The remote is rechargeable and comes equipped with charging station.

The VSX-59TXi will be available this winter.
