Slasher's 8-episode first season centers around Sarah Bennet, who with husband Dylan moves back to the town of her birth, Waterbury, and into her parents' former home. It was in that house nearly 3 decades earlier where both of her parents were horrifically murdered one Halloween night. Sarah's mother was pregnant with her at the time of her murder, with police discovering the killer holding Sarah's newborn body (he excised her from her mother's womb) after the slayings. Sarah's return to Waterbury in the present day is greeted with the start of a series of copycat murders, all appearing to be at the hands of "The Executioner," a figure wearing a black-robed, leather-hooded outfit identical to one worn by the killer of Sarah's parents. The new killings and her sightings of "The Executioner" pique Sarah's interests enough for her to strike up conversations with her parents' imprisoned murderer, Tom Winston. Tom suggests that many of Waterbury's residents — despite some projecting friendly, innocent, and even self-righteous outward images — harbor dark secrets. It is suggested that "The Executioner" is targeting some of the townsfolk as punishment for their perceived violations of the seven deadly sins.

Sarah Bennet et son mari Dylan emménage à Waterbury dans l'ancienne maison de ses parents. Environ 3 décennies plus tôt dans cette même maison ses parents étaient horriblement assassinés une nuit d'Halloween. La mère de Sarah était enceinte avec elle au moment des faits, la police découvrit le tueur tenant le corps du nouveau-né (il l'avait excisé du ventre de sa mère). Depuis le retour de Sarah à Waterbury une série de meurtres sont commis par un copycat "The Executioner", un personnage portant une robe noire, tenue en cuir à capuchon identique à celui que portait le tueur des ses parents. Afin de comprendre et de découvrir qui est l’auteur de ces meurtres Sarah rend visite à l'assassin de ses parents, Tom Winston, en prison. Tom suggère que beaucoup des habitants de Waterbury cachent de sombres secrets. On pense que "The Executioner" vise certains des citadins pour les punir d’avoir commis un des sept péchés capitaux.
