New Quick & Dirty Recipe
Thanks to my less motivated friends, I have a new recipe:
buy three rolls of 15" wide fiberglass (virtually any thickness, as the rolls are longer for the thinner stuff, and the total diameter ends up about the same, it can be faced or unfaced) insulation, stack them on top of one another, leaving them in the plastic bags, and wrap burlap or grill cloth around them. For better HF absorption, wrap polyester batting around one side or the entire sides. You can use something like duct tape to hold the three bags of fiberglass together, and to tape the polyester batting into place, etc. How invloved you wish to get is up to you. They should be placed in the corners, as for all bass traps.
This will work almost as well as the wire fence version in my recipe, at perhaps 70-80% of the bass absortion, with no resonances, or problems.

Reaction:
I bought four bags of 6.25 inch by 15 inch by 39'2" of unfaced, fiber glass insulation, totaling about 49 square feet. It's R-19, and comes in a poly bag that's about 15 or 16 inches on the sides and 32 inches tall. They cost $14.68 a roll at the King of Prussia Home Depot.
Make sure you get good, tight bags without any large rips or tears. Fiber glass has millions of very tiny "hairs" that are lighter than air (it's what makes it work so well) and will go deep into your lungs and pores. You can seal these tears with tape.
Wash the bags with a damp cloth diaper (I have a bunch) to remove grime and traces of fiberglass. You can remove grease stains with some Simple Green sprayed on a paper towel, but be careful because it will remove the ink printing on the bags too.
Now just stack the bags in the room corners, not all the way in, just casually, as if you just put them there out of the way. Now, listen. Really crank up some rock. You may still have some reflection problems with the higher frequencies--which the Jon Risch absorber panels will fix, but check out the bass!
My room is tiny (12 x 13.5 x 8 ) and my Virgos go deep into the 30 Hz octave, so I never expected to be able to really crank up any music with low bass information. But hey, check THIS out! I've been saved!
God Bless Jon Risch.
I'm on my way back to Home Depot for another set....

Donc ca peut faire l'affaire en attendant, avec 4 rouleaux ca fera de la matiere pour un paquet de tubes ensuite
