Hi !
Welcome here and thank you for sharing your experience with us. I appreciate your effort to speak / write French. Unfortunately, neither Bing nor Google are good enough in translations (some funny sentences :mdr: ). Feel free to write in English. The English speaking people here will help for translation :grad:

How did you arrive here ???

Hi there. Found this site while searching with Google for any P5000S reviews. Here is the English version of my post:

Sorry for my poor language...using the Bing translator English to French. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

I have used the P5000S for a few weeks now for home audio. I use a Simaudio Moon CD-1 CD Player coaxial digital output running into a Benchmark DAC-1 (using the front level control pot of the DAC-1) and balanced cables to the P5000S then to Peavey PV 215 speakers via Speakons. The DAC-1 internal jumpers are set for highest output so I have reduced the level controls on the P5000S to -30 for home use. My speakers are 4 ohm and 98 dB sensitivity so that is plenty loud for condo living.

Previous amps were Crown XLS 2500 (now using in my video system) and before that a Bryston 3B-ST. The Yamaha is my favourite amplifier of the three. I found the Bryston detailed but a little harsh. Crown XLS 2500 was maybe a little too smooth, a little wooley in the bass... not fatiguing at all but not the last word in detail. The Yamaha gives detail similar to the Bryston but can listen longer without fatigue.

Yes there is a small turn-on transient when you press the power switch, but it is not a problem and my speakers are very sensitive. Amp appears to be well made and is very large in length and width although the height is short. Amp runs cool. Unlike my previous Bryston, the Yamaha uses hardly any electricity when idle so I leave it on all the time. It runs very quiet and fans have not come on yet. Since I'm using it on a shelf instead of rack mounting, I use 4 Sims Navcom Silencer feet under the amp. It seems very discreet on the shelf as the only light is a green LED for power. I would have preferred a removable cord instead of the captive one, but the cord is certainly long enough.

Very happy with this "pro" amp and it seems to be better value (especially watts/$) than the high end amps I have been using over the years.
