Gamma setting

Message » 14 Nov 2008 17:39

First of all i don't know if i'm posting in the right place but here is my question. My TV is a Pioneer 608D and i'm using HCFR with the eyeone and the avshd709 disk to calibrate. i'm in a room with white walls a lot of wooden furniture and dark fitted carpet (if all that matters) and watch movies with all lights turned off. My question is what gamma setting do i use? i used display gamma with black compensation and have average gamma 2.2 at the moment with that setting but optimized(Regression) gives 2.4 with those TV settings and luminance is below the reference curve. Please help.

Hi,
gamma with black compensation is a good choice
if you have good results with gamma 2.2 , it's OK , why do you want to change gamma settings ?

Just read on a forum that optimized(regression) might be a better choice. And sometimes i think the picture is a touch too dark and picture is missing shadow detail in dark areas. What do you think?
