salut

Hello together,
I am “again” here in the HiFi forum and not straight bewandert in the topics dikutierten here. Nevertheless I would like to also tell you gladly something about my experiences with the Harman/Kardon DVD 23. In particular with consideration of the Leistunden of the predecessor, who DVD 22, which I possessed before it:
When now finally the DVD was 23 in the trade available, I had bought him directly (the price was me in the moment quite slat).
Apart from a pleasant optics and a very good DOT matrix display (contrary to the display of the DVD 22) the sound still better in the comparison to the DVD 22 was noticeable to me immediately. Both during the DVD rendition and with completely normal audio CDs. The DVD 23 is more than only one CD-Player-replacement. No, he exceeds some CD players even in the sound. Better it does not go m.E in this Preisklasse.
The disadvantages were here already once mentioned: It left on DVD burned MP3 (only 250) to not all and it produces a very loud humming and vibrating with some audio CDs. But only with the first 3-4 TRACKs. It noticed to me that he makes with CDs those than 8 years is older. With all newer disks: No problems!
The processing is very good, as I find. I do not understand here the criticism of many profit esters and salesmen. Has to be the art off worse and worse? This concerns very solid art off, the control elements are outstanding fit in and the screw connection is exemplary. If I times the Yamaha DVD-S557 against it-hold, which is often praised for its allegedly good processing (although one has the impression, one can take the plastic front screen off with bare fingers) can I only say, there worlds lie between.
The remote maintenance differs in handles from the meissten remote maintenance of the Konkurenz and is habituation needy thereby something, lies however well in the hand and is after some time “blindly” to be served. An above average quality of workmanship is noticeable also here. That art off is knarzt not substantially thicker and it if man the remote maintenance in the fist zusammenprasst. But well. Not built but isse also
Unfortunately, unfortunately my only however criticism clear for it applies for the visual characteristics of the DVD. Here H/K in the comparison to the predecessor worsened. I have the DVD 23 at a 8 years old Daewoo tube television attached however I think my impressions am quite representative:
- The picture is less high-contrast substantially jerky and than with the DVD 22.
- The colors are intolerablly knallig in the basic adjustments. The problem can be solved only with the inserted Equilizer over the menu option “color kind”. Even with the menu option “color” one hardly causes something.
- Whole badly and really disturbing: In dark picture sequences one sees completely thick pixels. As example the scene “the Bockenburger ferry” is mentioned in the Special Extended version of master of the rings - the companions. Here we see one “black riding” with its Gaul in the moon light. This “moon light” exists only out in principle correctly fat pixel blocks in different grey gradations. Even to my friends was noticeable with first time immediately. Because of my television is not it definitely, since this did not come with the DVD 22 forwards. I am also sure me that I do not have an incorrect equipment separate the this the production standard am. The equipment exchanged already already once.
Perhaps one of you knows something. For a feedback I would be very grateful. Can one repair such a thing with firmware an update? Can it be that the computer is too slow? Perhaps is it because of the drive assembly? Is it perhaps because of the fact that the DVD reads 23 now also MPEG data CDs and thus a degradation in the image quality in purchase be taken must? Does the DVD 23 have other transducers or a PC drive assembly (=Katastrophe)? Questions on which I no answer knows. Who can help?
Me much still up that with calls of the menu the screen hums and flickers very strongly. Also this was not with the DVD 22 the case.
Result: actually tidy equipment, to which I would give the school note “gut+”. To “very well” (“tower above”, “very outstandingly”, “galactically”, “celestially” etc. find I as note totally stupid!) only because of the picture by-scratched. In “normal” picture sequences the picture is eigentlch o.k. (in the RGB like also normally video mode). But these enormous pixel blocks are a completely thick minus.
Who over it - in the wahrsten sense of the word “way there-see” can, this equipment may buy. It is actually a CD player also of the DVDs left. But pssssst…
Many greetings
