Good afternoon.
Following the latest firmware release (May 15th), I wanted to test the new 4K/60 hz capability of my 103-D on my TV set (new Samsung UE65H8500 - 4K - Full HDMI 2.0).
The auto detection is not working, and unfortunately, when using the "forced" mode for the new frequencies (50/60 Hz in 4K), the synchro in HDMI is limited to 25/30p. The Player should force the color coding to 4:2:0 mode in 8 bits, but it is not the case - it remains in 4:4:4 (displayed on the infos when playing), which explains why the HDMI output cannot go over 30p I guess (usual bandwidth limitation of the hardware on HDMI 1.4).
Some testers have reported this new feature to work perfectly on Sony 4K TV sets - 9005B series (they use also a "fake" HDMI 2.0, limited in color range, to go to 50/60p) - only the Samsung new TV sets with the full HDMI 2.0 are failing to synchronize (that includes the F9000 2013 series upgraded with the new "One Connect Box" delivered by Samsung to upgrade the HDMI system, the CPU and the software). I have no clue if any owner of the new PANA AX800 series have also reported such issue.
It's no drama (most movies/programs are in 24 p), but unfortunately it prevents from using the OPPO upscale for TV boxes or DVB signals running in 50p, or at least to get a smooth image.
Any idea on how to fix that ? Or to force the Color mode to 4:2:0 8 bits properly ? Or possibility to integrate that in a future firmware release for the many Samsung TV (happy) owners ?
Looking forward to your feedback and ideas, which will be well appreciated,
Kind regards
