Ouai bof, le marché (l'acheteur), n'a que faire de l'investissement, seul le produit compte

In the first 10 months of this year, shipments of PDP televisions in Japan totaled 245,000 units, up 46 percent from the same period in 2003, according to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Assocation.
Its next major increase in production is due in late 2005, when the first of two production lines at a new plant in Amagasaki, Japan, come on line. That will take capacity from 1.8 million panels per year to 3.3 million panels per year. At the beginning of 2007 a second line is expected to have pushed total capacity to 4.8 million panels per year.
"Bearing in mind that we are quadrupling production over the next three to four years, it shows how we perceive the market," says Ueda. "Even after the year-end sales period we see demand without end."

Matsushita, Hitachi to join hands in plasma panel business
2/6/2005
TOKYO, Feb 5 (AFP): Japanese consumer electronics giant Matsushita would join domestic rivals Hitachi and Fujitsu in the plasma panel business in an effort to dent South Korean dominance in the area, a leading business newspaper said Saturday.
Hitachi Ltd would set up a subsidiary in April to control patents on plasma display technologies to be developed by Fujitsu Ltd, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun said in its evening edition.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., known for its Panasonic brand products, would later have a stake in the new company, the report said.
No officials were immediately available at these companies to confirm the report.
On Wednesday, Hitachi said it would raise its stake in its plasma-display panel (PDP) venture with Fujitsu from 50 per cent to 80.1 per cent.
Fujitsu pioneered flat screens more than 30 years ago and would now hold 19.9 per cent of Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display (FHP) Ltd.
The deal, which includes a transfer of the basic patents from Fujitsu to Hitachi, would be complete in April.
Matsushita and Hitachi, the top two firms in plasma display production in the country, were also considering joint development of electronics parts and joint procurement of materials, the report said.
"The two firms use the alliance to help streamline technological development and reduce production costs to improve their competitiveness against liquid crystal panels, which are becoming larger, and South Korean plasma makers," the report said.
Matsushita, Hitachi and another Japanese electronics giant Toshiba Corp. already established a joint venture last month to produce liquid crystal panels.
Matsushita and Hitachi plan to use liquid crystal panels for television sets with small and medium-sized screens, but hope to mainly use plasma panels for large-screen TV sets, the report said.
Through the alliance, Matsushita may be able to adopt at low costs various major patents held by Fujitsu.
On the other hand, Hitachi could utilise Matsushita's technology on high definition screens, the report said.
