The software features will be enhanced by firmware upgrade thanks to the more processing power of EM8635 compared with the EM8623 which is used for TViX M-4100SH.
Here are some brief FAQs on M-6500A for your information.
1. How about LAN performance?
It will be at around 50-60Mbps. So almost all high bit rate HD content will play without problem.
2. Will the user interface be improved or be friendly?
It may remain same for initial release, but it’ll be 1280X720 UI very soon. And True type font will be supported in order to change the size of the subtitle to whatever size you want. (we are targeting for initial release, but if not possible for initial release, it’ll be supported by the next firmware.
3. What about HDMI?
It’s 1.3. There are two main advantages on HDMI 1.3. The first thing is the number of video colors, up to 36bit colors compare to 24bit of HDMI 1.1/ 1.2. The other thing is sound, Dolby true HD and DTS sound support. M-6500A supports those next generation lossless multichannel sounds (Pass though HDMI) in hardware. We used HDMI 1.3 compatible with HDMI transceiver. But it’ll take some time to support this in software.
4. Any other connectors?
All I/O are same as to previous models.
5. Will Wi-Fi be native?
No, it’ll be an option like M-4100SH. But we are not sure of the time of the availability of the driver. It will be 11g first and we will develop 11n driver when the standard is fixed. The reason for not native is, if it is native it should be 820.11n. But the standard has not been fixed yet. So, we cannot integrate it now.
