Les dates des màj DTS:X se confirment :

DTS today announced DTS:X will be activating its first products via firmware updates:

• Denon’s AVR-X7200W (January 28)
• Denon AVR-X6200W, and AVR-X4200W receivers (February 18)
• Marantz’ AV8802A pre-amplifier (February 4)
• Marantz SR7010 and SR6010 AVRs (March 3)
• Marantz AV7702mkII pre-amplifier (March 3)

Additionally DTS confirmed that both Texas Instruments and Analog Devices have been DTS:X certified to implement its surround sound technology in their devices. Plus they announced that “four major studios” have committed to mixing in DTS:X to bring more content to the market in the coming year.

So I have my 8802a plugged in to some Klipch Icon KF-28's, are these speakers a good pairing for a 8802?

I'm with Geoff. You are contemplating putting $4000 tires on a Chevy Cruze. There is nothing wrong with a Chevy Cruze; I own one. You do not want to be lopsided. Plow the $$'s into new speakers or depending on the room, treatments.

You want to place $$ emphasis on the right items to maximize the performance. Room and speakers are paramount followed by the prepro, then the amp, power conditioning, and finally interconnects. But there are some cheats where you get some incredible bang for the buck in speakers. The new Revel Concerto2's and the GoldenEar are two such speakers. But the 7702mkii is a VERY good sounding prepro. With the KF-28's, that is what I would be buying/matching.

If you do not hear a decent difference between the 7009 and 7702mkii (I did), then your room, speakers, or care factor isn't worthy of spending $$'s on the 8802A.

At a "washed up weekend" concert back in 1998 my son got drum sticks and guitar picks from Styx and REO Speedwagon.

I have a collection of backstage passes and from the 80's when a buddy of mine was called in to tune pianos after being bounced around in the trailers.

Got to hang out with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (Ronnie James Dio version), Ted Nugent to name a few.

Yeah Bob Dylan and Tom Petty's voice is like listening to cats fight in a dumpster.

If one is 75% + home theater would the 7702 MKII be the better fit? Was also thinking about using Dirac (MiniDSP).

I agree with you on Mr. Petty's voice. That said, I cannot argue with the thickness of his wallet. Or Dylan's for that matter. It reminds me of people taking shots at Bose speakers. I am not a fan of Bose. But it is hard to argue with how much they sell. I mere 3.4 Billion a year (See http://www.forbes.com/companies/bose/ ). To put it in perspective, B&W might sell $60M a year and they giant in comparison to brands like Dynaudio (home MIGHT be $4M-$5M a year).

To your question about 7702mkii better for theater... The 8802MKII sounds better in stereo and in theater. Referencing Floyd Toole's research as well as common sense and experience, it's always easier to appreciate larger differences in stereo versus using more speakers. Additionally, I don't know what a more "open and airy" explosion scene sounds like. BUT, the 8802A sounds better to my ears in theater. After all, increased dynamics is always beneficial. A fuller sound (lower jitter) during the music scenes while watching a movie as well as a more dynamic (better headroom and bigger supply) and "airy" sounding dialog (better analog, better DAC's) is always appreciated. For that matter, the lower noise floor is also beneficial (especially) with more efficient speakers. But the 7702mkii isn't slumming it.

The law of diminishing returns is always alive and well in every product ever designed including the 8802A versus the 7702mkii. So it boils down to the appreciation/passion for sonic improvements, budget, how good the room sounds, how good are your ears, etc. In short, it depends.

sachant qu'il est des plus probable que cette màj sera identique sur les 8802(A) et 7702Mk2.

Ce que l'on peut en retenir :

après la màj DTS:X, il ne sera plus possible d'appliquer le Dolby Surround sur les encodages DTS,

les Wides sont théoriquement utilisables par le DTS:X

en complément à cette màj DTS:X, il sera désormais possible d'utiliser le processing Auro 3D avec également des Rear Height Surround, au lieu des seules Side Height Surround, d'où une bien meilleure compatibilité dans l'utilisation de ce processing optionnel (coût).

Bonsoir, j'ai une question sur la mise à jour, pour les possesseurs d'un mkii, il est je pense pas livré en DTS-X, cela vaut-il finalement effectuer cette mise à jour car j'ai cru comprendre que le ressenti des modes DSU étaient préférable et donc, avec la mise à jour, ces mode de DSU disparaissent ?

Faudra voir si le neural X est aussi bon que le DSU...peu être meilleur

Le Marantz 7702Mk2 intègre un Dolby Surround qui dès le départ ne peut être appliqué aux encodages DTS, mais seulement sur les encodages Dolby. Ainsi avec la màj DTS:X il deviendra donc possible d'utiliser le DTS Neural X sur les pistes DTS et Dolby Surround sur les pistes Dolby.

Sachant que le 7702 (non Mk2) qui ne pourra pas être màj en DTS:X, pourra quant à lui appliquer son processing Dolby Surround, tant sur les encodages Dolby, que DTS.

J'ai commandé mon 7702MK2 il y a 15jours environ (en Belgique), mais il n'arrivera que première Quinzaine de février. Avez vous aussi en France des problèmes d'approvisionnement?

J'ai commandé le mien chez ILLEL le 14/01 pour xxxx€ et je l'ai reçu le 20/01.

Est ce que les possesseurs du 7702 entendent des petits clic ( on va dire toute les 30 mins) pendant que le préamplificateur fonctionne j'ai l'impression d'en avoir de plus en plus ....

rien chez moi mais le volume sonore est rarement faible et si c'est dans le boitier l'oreille collé dessus qu'on l'entend ...

Oui c'est dans le préamplificateur et c'est très léger comme si la carcasse chauffait un peu ...si t'es pas à côté tu l'entends pas
