[EPP_3D] Plasma Panasonic 2011- Gamme ST30

Message » 16 Mar 2011 22:12

selon D-Nice, sur HDJ le ST30 est impressionant :

D-Nice : Overall, I am impressed with the ST. It is by no means a 2nd gen Kuro. However, it does have accurate colors (equal to THX mode on the 2010 Panasonics) and far better gamma (Custom mode) compared to any 2010 Panasonic PDP.

It looks like I'm going to have to retract my comments from this post. I seem to have found some content that brings the ST30 to its knees. I'm currently watching Earth: Making of a Planet on NatGeoHD and not only have I found solarization/posturization, I've found scenes that induce floating blacks!!!

One example is when the camera circles the asteroid that hit the Earth 65 million years ago, you can clearly see the asteroid brighten and dim as the camera swings around it. Not good. None of this is present on my 101FD.

So it looks as if floating blacks are still present, just greatly reduced.

Solarization/banding has been apart of Panasonics for years. Its reduced from last year but is still there and probably will always be there until they truly change how they drive their displays.

Suite sur HDJ,

After reviewing the scenes about 20 times, I think this should be called fluctuating brightness or screen flicker. Hopefully someone else can replicate this.

- Quote 2 :

Objects and the entire image are fluctuating in brightness.

So far, yes. This seems to be a true torture test for the ST30. I'm seeing horrible banding.... especially in the "Snowball Earth" and underwater scenes. Its a real mess. None if this is apparent on my 101FD.

- Quote 3 :

I do see the banding on grayscale ramps. The fluctuating brightness is definitely interesting.

- Quote 4 :

Dammit! I just saw the fluctuating brightness again. Dukes of Hazzard on Universal HD (please don't ask why I'm watching this). This time it was more of a flicker than anything.

tain' l'image est sacrément terne. On dirait un vieux LCD. :o
