Sharpjunkie a écrit:So, further testing revealed for HD. Watched some HD news at 11 in 1080i on both the 71 and the xbr4. Tiny edge goes to sony for a smidgen of a sharper picture. Basically more depth and skin tones. Now the depth and skin tones allready looked amazing on the 71 and without the xbr below it, well you wouldn't even know but since I have a direct comparison, I can tell that the sony has a very slight sharper picture. Both produce an amazing 3d experience when watching 1080i. I also noticed some smearing on the xbr when the news anchors would move thier face pretty quickly. Something that I didn't see on the 71. Automotion off on the 71 and motion enhancer and cinamotion both off on the sony during HD.
Sharpjunkie a écrit:Fade to black inbetween comercials on the 71 produce an almost all black screen. Not black like the 81 but very dark. Same fade to black on the xbr4 produces a gray screen with mura. I have tried to darken the screen more on the xbr but that just gives me way too much crush. Will have to play with the settings some more on the xbr for a more fair comparison. The glossy screen of the 71 is showing a little less crush and the ability to display a darker backlight during fade to black. The xbr is showing some smearing on HD cable
Sharpjunkie a écrit:I would recommend these 2 sets either the xbr4 or lnt71. Both with thier little nuiances.
Consider these in your decision and pick accordingly.....
XBR4:
Less Glossy Screen than 71
Cooling fan that some have heard and bothers them, I don't remember hearing it.
Auto Dimm function that darkens the screen. Some people can't stand this feature. I am one of them.
Cloudy screen, Some people say thiers got better. I was a victim of one of these. Mine did not get better as in my opinion of better.
LNT71:
More Glossy Screen. Not a problem for me at all..Is for some.
Football, golfball, tennis ball, blurring fixed by game mode. I had this issue and was lucky to find the solution and temporary fix for it.
Clouds and flashlights are possible, seem to get darker as time goes on. I had flashlights, Don't know where they went. They are gone.
Plasma, I won't touch it. I used to but it wasn't for me. I am the type of person that will pause a game, go do some laundry, forget my xbox is paused, some how end up on my motorcycle to go to the store to grab something, before you know it 6 hours later I get home and forgot that the xbox has been paused the whole time. Yeah there are screen savers but still. I don't want to babysit my tv. I don't care what people say about image retention these days or burn in. Just not for me.
