Me voici donc parti avec mon projet DX25 + RS225…

Simulations :
Paul Kittinger a écrit:With a pair of RS225-8s in an MTM, you're going to need about 3.5 cubic feet or a bit more to get an F3 of 30 Hz, and you're going to have to cross to the tweeter at a pretty low point to adequately attenuate the ringing from the RS225 higher up and to protect the tweeter for over-excursion.
Anyway, I did some modeling and in a cabinet with an internal depth of 15", here's the predicted system bass response (red line) for a 2.83-volt input to the paralleled RS225s):
I modeled with the tweeter's center 11" below the internal top, which is the TL's design center. The center of the mass-loading port is located 4.5" above the internal bottom. The port has a 4" diameter and a 6.5" length (not flared on either end). This will be good for a maximum input of an actual 90 watts without over-excursion of the woofer, while generating ~110 dB SPL over the flat part of the system response and with the port's air velocity not exceeding ~4% of the speed of sound (~14 m/s).
The top half of the cabinet is stuffed with polyester fiber at a uniform density of 0.75 lb/ft3, requiring a total of ~22 ounces of stuffing. As I said I modeled with the tweeter's center 11" below the internal top, but if you need to move it down a bit, like 1/2", in order to have adequate clearance, you can without any changes to what I've modeled. The overall system tuning frequency is ~29 Hz, and I arbitrarily modeled with 0.4 ohms added in series with the paralleled woofers to simulate the d.c. resistance of a series crossover inductor.
Woofers' (red line) and port's (blue line) outputs:
System impedance graph (red line):
For an input of 90 watts
System output (red line):
Woofers' excursion (red line):
Xmax for the RS225-8 is specified at 7 mm Peak. I model for a maximum excursion 15% greater than Xmax which makes this 8.05 mm Peak. The Y-axis of the above graph, however, uses units of mm RMS, so when converted, 8.05 mm Peak becomes 5.7 mm RMS. You can see, then, this excursion is just reached at ~41 Hz, and again at ~23 Hz (where there's very little if any content in most music).
Port air velocity as a percentage of the speed of sound:
You can see in the above graph that the port's air velocity just exceeds 4% of the speed of sound at ~25 Hz. There should be no audible port noise.
That completes all of the graphs. What this modeling does not take into account are volumes consumed/displaced by drivers, braces, port and crossover. From experience I've determined that if the total consumed volumes are not more than 5% of the cabinet's gross internal volume, it really isn't necessary to compensate. Regardless, if you do want to compensate, calculate/estimate the total consumed volumes, then determine what percentage of the cabinet's gross volume the consumed volumes are, then increase the cabinet's 15" depth by that same percentage. There will be no other changes required. With its 15" depth, this cabinet has a total gross volume of 6345 cubic inches.

Salut guyome. Joli projet.

Guillaume.
